I Survived the Shark Attacks of 1916
By: Lauren Tarshish

Chet, a boy whose parents are in California finding a job, says with his uncle in New Jersey.
Uncle was a baseball player and now worked in a diner. Sid and Duey are Chet’s friends and like to play pranks on people. Captain Wilson is a customer who comes to Uncle’s diner every morning. The killer shark who kills 3 (or 4) people.

The book is about a boy named Chet who moves to New Jersey and gets attacked by a vicious shark. He pulled a prank on Sid and Duey and they have been mad. When Chet has to save Sid from becoming dinner, Chet gets attacked and his calf becomes dinner to a Killer Shark.

I learned that Chet was a made up character, but somebody really got attacked and survived the Shark Attack of 1916. I learned that Sid and Duey liked to pull pranks that would scare people half to death.

I would recommend this book because it is scary and full of adventure. It is also a great way to learn about the year 1916 and the monster man-eating shark without having to be so boring.

This book is a little scary. This is one of my very first book reports so its not as good as my first post.

The Penultimate Peril by Lemony Snicket

This book is the twelfth book in the series of unfortunate events and takes place in a building built for a secret organization. The building is disguised as a hotel. It’s name for the organization is called V.F.D.! I am not sure what state or year it takes place in, but it sort of sounds like present day. The hotel is named Hotel Denouement.

The characters are Violet Baudelaire who is a very young inventor, but not famous. She is about 14 years old. Next, Klause Baudelaire, he is a great researcher and is very well read, he is  12.  Then there is Sunny Baudelaire a young girl who has just grown out of baby hood, has an interest in cooking, and also has four very sharp teeth. All three of them are orphans. Than of course worst for last! Count Olaf and his treacherous girlfriend Esme Squalor. Esme only cares about herself, fashion, what is in and what isn’t, and of course the Baudelaire Fortune! Now Count Olaf. He is a villain (along with his girlfriend) a liar, a murderer, and the worst villain around!

The story begins when the three kids are taking a taxi to the hotel. When they get there, they have a small brunch outside and changed into their disguises as a bell boy and bell girls. They each have to do something for different people. Violet had to go do something for Esme in the sun-bathing salon on the roof. Klause had to do something for a man named Sir and his partner Charles who had recently been their guardian. Sunny had to put a lock on the laundry room door because Olaf think that a certain sugar bowl was in there. It ended up not being in there. Because of all Olaf had done to the three children, he was finally brought to justice for the murders of their guardians. So the children think. The judges in court turn out to be helpers of Olaf. The kids escape from the authorities on a boat with Count Olaf as the captain! What will they do next?

I would recommend this book because it is full  of adventure and you have no idea what is going to happen next.  Another reason I would recommend the book is because sometimes it can be very scary.
